Public Worksession on Juneau North Douglas Crossing Project Scheduled for March 2
The Public Works and Facilities Committee will host a worksession on the Juneau North Douglas Crossing project on Thursday, March 2 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the City Hall Assembly Chambers.
The proposed Juneau North Douglas Crossing would construct a second bridge between Juneau and Douglas Island. No preferred route has been selected at this time; a Planning and Environmental Linkages study is currently underway and working to refine preferred alternatives. The Alaska Department of Transportation & Public Works has received $7 million in Congressionally Directed Spending for environmental work for this project that will commence when the PEL is complete this fall. CBJ is currently pursuing additional federal funding for design work.
This is an opportunity to give feedback on the project directly to the Assembly. After a presentation on the status of the Planning and Environmental Linkages (PEL) study by Alaska DOT&PF and DOWL engineering, the committee will take public testimony.
Please note that although the meeting will be streamed via Zoom, public testimony will only be taken in person. Testimony will be limited to 2-3 minutes per speaker. Comments may also be submitted in writing to [email protected].
