Planning Commission meets May 28. Here’s how to weigh in.

The City and Borough of Juneau Planning Commission meets on May 28, 7 p.m. in City Hall Assembly Chambers to review proposals for a condominium development on Cinema Drive, an indoor recreational facility on Mendenhall Loop Road, an accessory apartment on an undersized lot, and an amendment to an approved Planned Unit Development to allow further subdivision of two of the lots. All of these items are up for public hearing.

The public is encouraged to submit written comments to [email protected] by 12 noon, May 24, or testify in person at the meeting.  For more information related to these agenda items click here.

A 72-unit condominium development on Cinema Drive (USE2019 0009)

The applicant requests a Conditional Use Permit for a 72-unit condominium development to be located in a D15 multifamily zoning district on a parcel that is currently vacant. The condominiums will be a mixture of two and three bedroom units.

A 5,000 square foot indoor recreational facility (USE2019 0013)

The applicant requests a Conditional Use Permit for an approximately 5,000 square foot indoor recreation facility for use by the Juneau Wrestling Club to practice, host events, or rent out to other groups who use mats, such as gymnastics clubs. The facility will be located on a 20+ acre parcel that has frontage on Mendenhall Loop Road.

An accessory apartment above a detached garage (USE2019 0010)

The applicant requests a Conditional Use Permit for the development of a detached 600 square foot accessory apartment above a proposed garage on a lot on Cohen Drive that does not meet the minimum lot size for the D1 zoning district.

An amendment to the Montana Creek West Planned Unit Development (PUD) (PDF2019 0001)

The applicants are proposing to further subdivide two lots into four lots within the Montana Creek West PUD. This would be an amendment to the existing PUD approval, which was granted in 2005 (SUB2005-00048).

Preliminary and final plat approval for the Montana Creek West PUD amendment (SMP019 0002 & SMF2019 0001)

In conjunction with the requested amendment for this subdivision (PDF2019 0001, above), the applicants require review by the Planning Commission of their revised plat, due to the project being considered a major subdivision.
