Planning Commission meets June 12. Here’s how to weigh in.

The City and Borough of Juneau Planning Commission meets on June 12, 7 p.m. in City Hall Assembly Chambers to review a proposal regarding an easement on city land and another regarding the sale of city property. They will also consider three Conditional Use Permits, two for marijuana businesses and the third for an accessory apartment. All of these items are up for public hearing.

Locating a power and communication cable near Auke Bay (CSP2018 0005)

The Commission will review a proposed city project to provide an easement across CBJ property north of the ferry terminal in order to locate a power and communication cable serving a Rainforest Telecom tower. Sale of CBJ property at 9290 Hurlock Avenue (CSP2018 0007)

CBJ proposes to sell one lot at 9290 Hurlock Avenue, formerly occupied by Juneau Youth Services, to Alaska Legacy Partners who intend to develop the existing buildings into a 16‐18 bed assisted living and memory care facility.

A marijuana manufacturing facility in Lemon Creek (USE2018 0004)

The applicant requests a Conditional Use Permit for a marijuana product manufacturing facility located in an industrial zone at 5011 Short Street.

A marijuana retail store in downtown Juneau (USE2018 0006)

The applicant requests a Conditional Use Permit for a marijuana retail store to be located at 159 S. Franklin Street, downtown in a mixed-use zone.

An accessory apartment on an under-sized lot in Douglas (USE2018 0008)

A Conditional Use Permit has been requested for the development of an accessory apartment on an under-sized lot on 4th Street, a D5 zoning district, where the minimum lot size is 7,000 sq. ft. The subject lot is 5,000 sq. ft., and the net area of the existing single family dwelling is 768 square feet. CBJ 49.25.510 allows the Planning Commission to approve an accessory apartment of 600 square feet or less on a lot that is less than the minimum lot size.
