Paving on Douglas Highway scheduled for today, Sept. 17

September 17, 2019 – FYI

Due to a weather window, City and Borough of Juneau contractor Admiralty Construction plans on paving sections of Douglas Highway today, September 17. This is part of the Douglas Highway Water Main Replacement Project. Paving operations will focus around the Cordova Street intersection, and are expected to begin at noon and continue until completed today.

Admiralty Construction plans to have two lanes of traffic open all day. During paving operations, traffic in both lanes will periodically be completely stopped for about 10 minutes. Please plan for longer than normal delays. Flaggers will be present to help keep traffic moving.

For the rest of the week, Admiralty will return to its standard operation of working 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. with only one lane of traffic open, except between peak traffic hours of 7:30 a.m. – 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 – 5:30 p.m. when two lanes are open.

Due to this construction, Capital Transit service is modified. There is no outbound service to Douglas from Cordova Street; riders on Cordova can wait for the bus at the bottom of the hill. The bus stop at Breeze In has been temporarily moved closer to the roundabout. For more information, call Capital Transit at 789-6901.
