Parks & Recreation begins redesign process for Capital School Park with public survey

December 14, 2020 – Notices for Public Comment

To gain a better understanding of how the public uses the downtown Capital School Park, the City and Borough of Juneau Parks & Recreation Department wants frequent users to fill out a community vision survey. Completing the survey takes about 5-10 minutes. It closes on January 3 at 5 p.m. Parks & Recreation will host a community meeting later in January on the design development. Take the survey here.

Capital School Park is located in Downtown Juneau at Fifth and Seward Streets. In 2012, a master plan was developed with community input to guide future park reconstruction. The survey is part of a project that will update the master plan. Other public outreach includes a community meeting and interviews with various stakeholders to understand needs and uses of the park. Using the input from the community, the master plan will be developed into construction drawings. Learn more on the Capital School Park Improvements project page.

Parks and Recreation is collaborating with CBJ Engineering, MRV Architects, Anderson Land Planning, and PND Engineers to facilitate the public outreach and complete the design phase of this project.

Again, the public has until January 3 at 5 p.m. to complete the survey. Take the survey here.
