Mike Vigue to lead Public Works & Engineering as new director

April 6, 2018 – News

The City and Borough of Juneau is pleased to announce that Mike Vigue will lead the Public Works & Engineering Department as its next Director. Vigue will take over after current director Roger Healy retires at the end of April.

Vigue holds a top position within the Alaska Department of Transportation as its Division of Program Development Director. In this role, he serves on DOT’s Executive Team, develops the department’s annual capital budget and oversees a team of 75. Vigue has held other positions within DOT as well as the Federal Highway Administration in Alaska and Maine.

“After years of working for the federal government and state governments in the area of transportation infrastructure, it will be a great opportunity to bring the knowledge and expertise I have gained throughout my career to the local level. I am looking forward to getting to know the great staff in the department and working with them to identify opportunities and find solutions that improve Juneau’s quality of life,” Vigue said.

City Manager Rorie Watt said Vigue will be a great fit for Public Works & Engineering, which handles a number of complex projects and services.

“I’m confident in his ability to work with and direct the staff in a wide-ranging and complicated department, and to communicate to the public and the Assembly. I’m really happy to add him and his skill set to our team,” Watt said.

Vigue’s first day as CBJ Public Works & Engineering Department Director is April 30.
