
Juneteenth holiday closures at CBJ

City and Borough of Juneau offices and facilities will be closed on Thursday, June 19, in observance of the Juneteenth holiday.
Most CBJ offices and facilities—including City Hall, Juneau Public Libraries, the Juneau-Douglas City Museum, Augustus G. Brown Swimming Pool, and Dimond Park Field House—will be closed all day. Some facilities will remain open for some or all of the day:
- Capital Transit service will run as normal
- Dimond Park Aquatic Center will be open for limited hours, with open swims from 12 – 1:45 p.m. and 2:15 – 4 p.m.
- Jenson-Olson Arboretum will be open 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
- RecycleWorks will be open normal hours, with the Recycling Center open 7 a.m. – 5 p.m. and Household Hazardous Waste disposal open 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
- Shéiyi X̱aat Hít Youth Shelter will be open 24 hours a day
- Zach Gordon Youth Center will be open for Camera Speaks Camp from 1 – 4:30 p.m.
This is the first year the Juneteenth holiday will be observed at the municipal level. This federal and state holiday was approved for CBJ observation by the Assembly on June 11, 2025.
