Juneau’s David Borg is Harbormaster of the Year
Two City and Borough of Juneau employees were recently recognized at a statewide conference in Petersburg. Harbormaster David Borg received the Harbormaster of the Year award from the Alaska Association of Harbormasters and Port Administrators for being a “leader, mentor, and innovator.” The organization of municipal harbors gave Borg the top honor during its annual conference Oct. 2-6.
“Harbors are expensive to run, finicky in nature and used by several groups that don’t always have likeminded interests, yet David is judicious in his approach and oversees everything with skill, efficiency and tact. CBJ is extremely lucky to have him at Docks & Harbors,” City Manager Rorie Watt said. Borg joined Docks & Harbors as Harbormaster in March 2014.
At the same conference, Docks & Harbors’ Jennifer Shinn was honored as a 2017 Employee of the Year for being “a consummate professional and the Swiss Army knife of the administrative staff.”
