Over the 14-day period from May 10 to May 23, there were 17 people in Juneau who tested positive for COVID-19 (that’s down from 29 during the previous two weeks):

  • 18 percent of the cases were associated with a cluster that was a result of a small party. There were nine identified cases within that cluster.
  • Public Health attributed 59 percent of cases to secondary transmission, 17 percent to out-of-state travel, 12 percent to community spread, and 12 percent of the cases remain under investigation.
  • 100 percent of cases were contacted for contact tracing within 24 hours of a positive test being returned.
  • Disease spread is proportionally higher among individuals under the age of 19 and less prevalent in those over the age of 60. There is case positivity among various racial groups (the category of individuals who self-identify as white is highest with seven), and more cases in females than males (65 percent/35 percent).
