Juneau Welcomes IRONMAN Alaska

The City & Borough of Juneau and Travel Juneau are proud to host Alaska’s first IRONMAN triathlon with the University of Alaska Southeast on Sunday, August 7, 2022. Approximately 1,200 athletes will experience the beauty of Alaska’s Capital City by swimming 2.4 miles in Auke Lake, biking 112 miles along Lynn Canal, and running 26.2 miles through the Mendenhall Valley.

Residents are reminded of the following closures and other race-related impacts to CBJ parks and other facilities:

  • Auke Lake will be closed to public use beginning Saturday, August 6th at 7 a.m. until Sunday, August 7th at 11:59 p.m.
  • The Auke Lake Wayside and Boat Launch will be closed to public use beginning Saturday, August 6th at 5 a.m. until Sunday, August 7th at 11:59 p.m.
  • Race participants will be using the following CBJ parks, trails, and streets on August 7th:
    • Kaxdigoowu Heen Dei (Brotherhood Bridge Trail)
    • River Road
    • Montana Creek Road
    • Dimond Park
