Juneau COVID-19 vaccine clinic for 65 & older and healthcare workers planned for Jan. 15-17

The City and Borough of Juneau, Juneau Public Health Center, and Bartlett Regional Hospital are planning to host a free COVID-19 vaccine clinic for seniors (age 65 and up) and healthcare workers January 15-17. The clinic is pending vaccine availability. If vaccine availability is confirmed, CBJ will notify the public and issue more details on the clinic and how to make an appointment. Appointment scheduling may be available as early as this Friday.

In the event that vaccine is available and the January 15-17 clinic occurs, CBJ anticipates appointments filling up quickly. Keep in mind, planning is already in progress for additional clinics as more vaccine becomes available.

Alaskans age 65 and up also have the option of signing up for a COVID-19 vaccine starting at noon today through the State of Alaska system, covidvax.alaska.gov. It is unknown how many appointments are available at the six current Juneau providers. For questions concerning this process, contact the State of Alaska at 1-907-646-3322 or [email protected].

As a senior or healthcare worker, if you’ve previously tried to make an appointment through the State of Alaska system and were put on a waitlist, please keep trying to make an actual appointment; waitlists are only being maintained for each shipment of vaccine, not long-term.

Wherever you do choose to get a vaccine, you must get the second dose at the same location and at the appropriate interval. The COVID-19 vaccine requires two doses – get both doses at the same place. For the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine, the interval is 21 days between the first and second dose. For the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine, the interval is 28 days between the first and second dose.
