Juneau airport to fly military flags to honor service members & veterans
To honor and recognize the commitment of service members and veterans, the Juneau International Airport is flying the official flags of various United States military branches on the service’s respective anniversary. This Saturday, September 18, the airport will be flying the official flag of the U.S. Air Force in recognition of its 74th anniversary. The display on the airport terminal’s flag pole array meets flag code.
The airport started this new practice last month, August 4, to show support for U.S. Coast Guard service members and veterans on the Coast Guard’s anniversary.
These are the dates the airport will be flying a U.S. military flag in addition to the U.S. flag and the Alaska State flag:
- June 14 – U.S. Army
- August 4 – U.S. Coast Guard
- September 18 – U.S. Air Force
- October 13 – U.S. Navy
- November 10 – U.S. Marine Corps
