It’s Public Service Recognition Week!

May 7, 2018 – News

Every year since 1985, the first full week of May is set aside to honor the innovative and dedicated people who work as federal, state and local government employees.

On the local level, CBJ employees help shape Juneau’s youth, respond to emergencies, keep Juneau’s drinking water clean, and a multitude of other vital services. They work every day to make a difference in the lives of local residents, often in ways that go unnoticed.

During the April 23 Regular Assembly Meeting, the Assembly made a proclamation to designate May 6 through May 12, 2018 as Public Service Recognition Week. Every day this week, we’re profiling #PeopleofCBJ on social media – Facebook, Twitter and Instagram – to highlight a few of the hardworking individuals that make up local government.

How can you celebrate Public Service Recognition Week? If you’re not a government employee, consider saying thank you to someone who is. It’s something small, but it’ll make a big difference. And it actually doesn’t have to be this week; a thank you is appreciated throughout the year.
