Bartlett Regional Hospital suspends elective surgeries

March 16, 2020 – News

Bartlett Regional Hospital in Juneau will suspend elective surgeries for the next 90 days. “We will reevaluate whether to continue that policy every two weeks,” said Bartlett CEO Chuck Bill.

The announcement comes as Alaska’s Chief Medical Officer, Ann Zink, issued a COVID-19 medical advisory today to follow guidance from the U.S. Surgeon General and, “consider minimizing, postponing or canceling all non-urgent or elective procedures for three months to decrease the overall impact on the Alaska health care structure.”

“The State of Alaska believes that by delaying non emergent procedures, individuals will receive optimal care,” wrote Zink.
