Eaglecrest Ski Area Closed December 14 for Avalanche Mitigation Work

December 14, 2022 – News

UPDATE: The December 14 Eaglecrest closure has been extended in order to ensure safe conditions following a full round of avalanche mitigation work. The mountain will reopen to uphill traffic at 3:30 p.m.

Eaglecrest will be closed this Wednesday, December 14, to uphill traffic. Ski patrol will be running a full round of avalanche mitigation work with explosives. Everyone must be off the mountain from 6 a.m. until <strike>1 p.m</strike> 3:30 p.m. For the safety of Eaglecrest staff and users, the mountain must be clear of any unauthorized users.

The National Weather service is calling for a winter storm watch beginning Sunday night, December 11 through Wednesday, December 14. These conditions combined with the recent freeze-thaw cycle could destabilize the snow, causing avalanches. Please allow ski patrollers to work on the upper mountain and steer clear of the area.

Eaglecrest’s website and social media channels (Facebook and Instagram) will be updated when the mountain is open to uphill access again
