Douglas Hwy construction project will see occasional one lane traffic revision

As part of the City and Borough of Juneau’s Douglas Highway Water Main Replacement Project Phase II, a section of the highway will occasionally go down to one lane of traffic starting tomorrow and throughout the rest of the project. CBJ contractor Glacier State Contractors will intermittently have only one lane of traffic open between Capital View Court and Sayéik: Gastineau Elementary School. The traffic modification will allow Glacier State Contractors to replace two water lines in two separate locations and one sanitary sewer line.

Traffic modifications will vary day by day. To the extent possible, Glacier State Contractors will maintain two lanes of traffic; one lane of traffic will be put in place intermittently. Flaggers will be present to help keep traffic moving. Drivers, bikers, and pedestrians are encouraged to pass through the site with caution, watching for construction equipment and personnel.
