Columbia Blvd, Poplar Ave & Mendenhall Blvd Reconstruction Project begins this week

City and Borough of Juneau contractor Coogan Construction will begin work this week on a major residential street reconstruction project in the Mendenhall Valley. The Columbia Blvd, Poplar Ave & Mendenhall Blvd Reconstruction Project is a multi-phase two-year CBJ project.

Phase I work, to be constructed this summer, will include the south end of Columbia Blvd starting at Birch Lane, and Poplar Avenue through to the Mendenhall Blvd intersection. Phase II work, Mendenhall Blvd and north Columbia Blvd, will be constructed in 2021.

The contractor’s hours of operations will generally be Monday through Saturday, 7 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. Local traffic will be impacted during this project. Portions of the affected roadways may be closed to thru-vehicular traffic during these hours. Pedestrian traffic and local vehicular traffic will be maintained. Please expect flaggers, one-way traffic, delays, and detours during construction. Please use caution and obey all traffic control and signs when driving through the project.
