Check out the airport’s new Snow Removal Equipment Building April 19
The Juneau International Airport will hold a ribbon cutting ceremony for the new Snow Removal Equipment Building on Thursday, April 19, at 4 p.m. This event is open to the public, but you must RSVP by calling the Airport Manager’s Office at 789-7821 no later than 4:30 p.m. April 18. This is to ensure that adequate airport personnel will be available to escort members of the public to the building, which is located on the northwest section of the airport and accessed through Gate E.
Those attending the ribbon cutting will have the opportunity to walk around the facility. The geothermal heated Snow Removal Equipment Building houses the airport’s snow removal equipment and allows airfield crew to use the equipment when needed. Prior to the building’s completion, equipment would sit out in the weather and, during freezing rain or heavy snow, crew would have to attempt to thaw out the equipment one piece at a time by bringing it into another building.
The airport looks forward to seeing many community members at the ribbon cutting. Cake and refreshments will be available.
For more information, call the Airport Manager’s Office at 789-7821.
