Celebrating safely: Juneau Public Libraries Librarian Andi Hirsh

December 17, 2020 – FYI

Andi Hirsh is a librarian for Juneau Public Libraries, but this year she’s also been a vital member of the City and Borough of Juneau’s COVID-19 communications team. For Andi, the holidays normally mean going to big holiday parties where she and her friends fry latkes and drink eggnog. In lieu of in-person parties, her friends are trying something a little different for 2020.

“My friend group (and awesome book club) is doing ‘Secret Solstice’ and ‘Secret Krampus’ where we draw names to give one awesome and one awful present to people. We’ll drive around and deliver them on Solstice, and open them together over Zoom.” Andi wants Secret Solstice/Krampus to become an annual tradition, but she’s hoping she can get back to having small parties next year.

Here are some more ideas for celebrating the holidays safely from the Alaska Department of Health and Social Services.
