CBJ seeks public comment on Juneau Coordinated Human Services Transportation Plan

October 16, 2020 – Notices for Public Comment

The City and Borough of Juneau Community Development Department has updated the Juneau Coordinated Human Services Transportation Plan, and seeks public comment on the draft. The purpose of the plan is to improve human services and public transportation for older adults, individuals of all ages with disabilities, and people with lower incomes through coordinated transportation. Read the draft plan here. The deadline to submit comments is 8 a.m. October 26. Submit comments to Community Development Administrative Assistant Jack Scholz at [email protected].

The Juneau Coordinated Human Services Transportation Plan is submitted to the Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities every 5 years as part of a state grant program for social services agencies that provide transportation as part of their programming. The agencies nominate projects to receive grant funding and prioritize those projects at a public meeting, which was held on October 1. This year’s priorities are a bus wash bay for Catholic Community Service and a taxi voucher program for Southeast Alaska Independent Living.

Agency and public comments will be incorporated before the plan goes to the Juneau Assembly’s Public Works and Facilities Committee for review on November 9.
