CBJ reports two new COVID-19 cases in Juneau June 5-7

June 7, 2021 – News

The City and Borough of Juneau Emergency Operations Center is reporting two new residents identified with COVID-19 in Juneau. Public Health attributes both cases to secondary transmission. One is part of the small daycare cluster, bringing that cluster total to nine cases, including one recovered.

Cumulatively, Juneau has had 1,361 residents test positive for COVID-19 and 166 nonresidents. There are 24 active cases in Juneau and 1,498 individuals have recovered. All individuals with active cases of COVID-19 are in isolation.

Statewide, the Alaska Department of Health and Social Services (DHSS) reports 50 new people identified with COVID-19 in the past three days – 49 are residents and one is a nonresident. Alaska has had 67,698 cumulative resident cases of COVID-19 and a total of 2,822 nonresidents.

Starting today, June 7, CBJ will provide this case count update three times a week – Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. That schedule will be adjusted as needed. Though Juneau continues to see COVID-19 spread in the community, the change is being made to mirror how often DHSS is now issuing its COVID-19 updates. CBJ will continue to update its COVID-19 Dashboard on a daily basis, Monday through Friday.
