CBJ reports two new COVID-19 cases in Juneau July 8 & 9

The City and Borough of Juneau Emergency Operations Center reports two new individuals – one resident and one nonresident – identified with COVID-19 in Juneau for July 8 and 9. Public Health attributes the resident case to community spread; the nonresident case is under investigation.

Cumulatively, Juneau has had 1,390 residents test positive for COVID-19 and 172 nonresidents. There are nine active cases in Juneau and 1,548 individuals have recovered. All individuals with active cases of COVID-19 are in isolation.

Statewide, the Alaska Department of Health and Social Services reports 135 new people identified with COVID-19 in the past two days – 118 are residents and 17 are nonresidents. The state also reports two deaths – a female Anchorage resident in her 40s and a male Hyder resident in his 80s – bringing the total number of resident deaths to 372. Alaska has had 68,791 cumulative resident cases of COVID-19 and a total of 2,940 nonresidents.
