CBJ reports two new COVID-19 cases in Juneau and one death

The City and Borough of Juneau Emergency Operations Center is reporting two new residents with COVID-19. Public Health is attributing both cases to community spread. CBJ is also reporting one new death – a female Juneau resident in her 60s who died in September. CBJ extends condolences to the family members and friends of this individual. The Alaska Department of Health and Social Services will be reporting the death tomorrow.

Cumulatively, Juneau has had 303 residents test positive for COVID-19 since March and 100 nonresidents. Combined, there are 27 active cases in Juneau and 374 individuals have recovered. Two deaths are now attributed to Juneau; the first death of a Juneau resident occurred outside of Alaska in May. All individuals with active cases of COVID-19 are in isolation. There are currently two people with COVID-19 hospitalized at Bartlett Regional Hospital.

Statewide, the Alaska Department of Health and Social Services reports 132 new people with COVID-19 – 130 are residents and two are nonresidents. Alaska has had 8,074 cumulative resident cases of COVID-19 and a total of 966 nonresidents.
