CBJ reports two new COVID-19 cases in Juneau

The City and Borough of Juneau Emergency Operations Center is reporting two new residents identified with COVID-19 in Juneau. How the individuals acquired the virus is under investigation. Cumulatively, Juneau has had 985 residents test positive for COVID-19 since March and 125 nonresidents. There are 12 active cases in Juneau and 1,093 individuals have recovered. All individuals with active cases of COVID-19 are in isolation. There are currently two people with COVID-19 hospitalized at Bartlett Regional Hospital.

Statewide, the Alaska Department of Health and Social Services (DHSS) today reports 296 new people identified with COVID-19 – 288 are residents and eight are nonresidents. The state also reports a recent death – a female Anchorage resident in her 70s – bringing the total number of resident deaths to 225. Alaska has had 49,203 cumulative resident cases of COVID-19 and a total of 1,613 nonresidents.

Vaccine information

According to DHSS, 1,792 people in the Juneau region have received their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine – either Pfizer or Moderna – and 529 have completed both doses. Statewide, 35,383 people have received their first dose and 7,965 have completed both doses.
