CBJ reports six new COVID-19 cases in Juneau

The City and Borough of Juneau Emergency Operations Center is reporting six new residents identified with COVID-19 in Juneau. Public Health is attributing two cases to out-of-state travel and the other four are under investigation.

Due to lower case numbers statewide, Public Health is once again conducting full contact investigations; contacts of positive cases will be called starting today. Public Health still encourages people who’ve tested positive to immediately notify their close contacts. The sooner close contacts can self-quarantine, get tested, and isolate if needed, the better to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Cumulatively, Juneau has had 951 residents test positive for COVID-19 since March and 120 nonresidents. There are 44 active cases in Juneau and 1,022 individuals have recovered. All individuals with active cases of COVID-19 are in isolation. There is currently one person with COVID-19 hospitalized at Bartlett Regional Hospital.

Statewide, the Alaska Department of Health and Social Services today reports 217 new people identified with COVID-19 – 210 are residents and seven are nonresidents. The state also reports a new death – a male Anchorage resident in his 50s – bringing the total number of resident deaths to 200.

Alaska has had 44,581 cumulative resident cases of COVID-19 and a total of 1,511 nonresidents.
