CBJ reports six new COVID-19 cases in Juneau

The City and Borough of Juneau Emergency Operations Center is reporting six new Juneau residents with COVID-19. Public Health is attributing three to community spread and three are under investigation.

Of the new cases, two are linked to other cases among Juneau’s vulnerable/unsheltered population, bringing that cluster total to 38 so far. The EOC, today, has been conducting testing at AWARE, Housing First, the Glory Hall, and the cold weather shelter at the JAHC.

Cumulatively, Juneau has had 365 residents test positive for COVID-19 since March and 102 nonresidents. There are 51 active cases in Juneau and 413 individuals have recovered. All individuals with active cases of COVID-19 are in isolation. There are currently five people with COVID-19 hospitalized at Bartlett Regional Hospital.

Statewide, the Alaska Department of Health and Social Services today reports 220 new people with COVID-19 – 218 are residents and two are nonresidents. The state is reporting a new death, bringing the total number of deaths to 66. The person who died was a male Fairbanks resident in his 80s. Alaska has had 10,549 cumulative resident cases of COVID-19 and a total of 1,027 nonresidents.
