CBJ reports one new resident case of COVID-19

The City and Borough of Juneau Emergency Operations Center is reporting one new individual with COVID-19 in Juneau. How the individual acquired the virus is under investigation. Public Health has initiated a contact investigation, and will notify and quarantine additional individuals as appropriate.

Please note, a previously identified nonresident case has been corrected to a resident case. Cumulatively, Juneau has had 91 residents test positive for COVID-19 since March. Of those, eight cases are active and 82 have recovered. The total number of nonresident cases in Juneau is 63. Of those, seven are active and 56 have recovered. All individuals with active cases of COVID-19 are in isolation. Public Health is keeping track of 66 people who are close contacts of individuals with confirmed cases of COVID-19.

Statewide, the Alaska Department of Health and Social Services reports 80 new people with COVID-19 – 61 are residents and 19 are nonresidents. The state reports a total of 25 deaths, including one new death. The individual who died was a male Anchorage resident in his late 70s. Alaska has had 3,341 cumulative resident cases of COVID-19 and a total of 723 nonresidents.
