CBJ reports one new COVID-19 case in Juneau

The City and Borough of Juneau Emergency Operations Center is reporting one new resident identified with COVID-19 in Juneau. Public Health is attributing the case to out-of-state travel. Cumulatively, Juneau has had 983 residents test positive for COVID-19 since March and 125 nonresidents. There are 10 active cases in Juneau and 1,093 individuals have recovered. All individuals with active cases of COVID-19 are in isolation.

Statewide, the Alaska Department of Health and Social Services (DHSS) today reports 159 new people identified with COVID-19 – 155 are residents and four are nonresidents. The state also reports a recent death – a male Anchorage resident in his 70s – bringing the total number of resident deaths to 224. Alaska has had 48,918 cumulative resident cases of COVID-19 and a total of 1,604 nonresidents.

Vaccine information

According to DHSS, 1,729 people in the Juneau region have received their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine – either Pfizer or Moderna – and 504 have completed both doses. State vaccine data is reported Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Statewide, 29,803 people have received their first dose and 5,976 have completed both doses.
