CBJ reports one new COVID-19 case in Juneau

The City and Borough of Juneau Emergency Operations Center is reporting one new resident identified with COVID-19 in Juneau. Public Health is attributing the case to secondary transmission.

Cumulatively, Juneau has had 1,189 residents test positive for COVID-19 and 145 nonresidents. There are 11 active cases in Juneau and 1,318 individuals have recovered. All individuals with active cases of COVID-19 are in isolation.

Statewide, the Alaska Department of Health and Social Services (DHSS) reports 145 new people identified with COVID-19 – 143 are residents and two are nonresidents. The state also reports one recent death – a male Wasilla resident in his 60s – bringing the total number of resident deaths to 309. Alaska has had 59,528 cumulative resident cases of COVID-19 and a total of 2,532 nonresidents.

Vaccine information

According to DHSS, as well as data reported from the U.S. Coast Guard and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, 14,451 people in the Juneau region have received their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine and 7,817 are fully vaccinated.

Statewide, 226,884 people have received their first dose, according to DHSS, and 155,264 are fully vaccinated.
