CBJ reports 9 new COVID-19 cases in Juneau August 4

The City and Borough of Juneau Emergency Operations Center reports nine new individuals – five residents and four nonresidents – identified with COVID-19 in Juneau for August 4. Of the resident cases, Public Health attributes one to community spread, two to travel, and two are under investigation. Of the nonresident cases, two are tourists, and two are in tourism.

The cluster associated with a local restaurant remains at seven individuals – two are active and five have recovered.

Cumulatively, Juneau has had 1,602 residents test positive for COVID-19 and 206 nonresidents. There are 69 active cases in Juneau and 1,734 individuals have recovered. All individuals with active cases of COVID-19 are in isolation.

Statewide, the Alaska Department of Health and Social Services reports 338 new people identified with COVID-19 – 323 are residents and 15 are nonresidents. Sadly, the state is also reporting two new deaths today, both individuals are from Anchorage, a male in his 70s and a male in his 60s. Alaska has had 73,584 cumulative resident cases of COVID-19 and a total of 3,290 nonresidents.
