CBJ reports 20 new COVID-19 cases in Juneau Dec. 25-28

The City and Borough of Juneau Emergency Operations Center is reporting 20 new individuals identified with COVID-19 in Juneau for time period December 25 to December 28. Seventeen are resident cases and three are nonresidents. Of the resident cases, Public Health is attributing six to secondary transmission, four to community spread, one to out-of-state travel, and the rest are under investigation. Two of the nonresidents cases are in the mining sector; the other is under investigation.

Two cases were recently removed from the cumulative resident case number. One individual was not a Juneau resident; the other case was reported in error.

Cumulatively, Juneau has had 945 residents test positive for COVID-19 since March and 120 nonresidents. There are 52 active cases in Juneau and 1,008 individuals have recovered. All individuals with active cases of COVID-19 are in isolation. There is currently one person with COVID-19 hospitalized at Bartlett Regional Hospital.

Statewide, the Alaska Department of Health and Social Services today reports 126 new people identified with COVID-19 – 124 are residents and two are nonresidents. Alaska has had 44,406 cumulative resident cases of COVID-19 and a total of 1,503 nonresidents.
