CBJ reports 17 new COVID-19 cases in Juneau

The City and Borough of Juneau Emergency Operations Center is reporting 17 new residents with COVID-19 in Juneau. How the individuals acquired the virus is under investigation. Two are older cases from November that never got reported and are no longer active.

Cumulatively, Juneau has had 832 residents test positive for COVID-19 since March and 112 nonresidents. There are 78 active cases in Juneau and 861 individuals have recovered. All individuals with active cases of COVID-19 are in isolation.

Statewide, the Alaska Department of Health and Social Services today reports 760 new people with COVID-19 – 755 are residents and five are nonresidents. Alaska also reports eight new recent deaths – a female Bethel resident in her 80s, a female Bethel resident in her 50s, a male Kusilvak Census Area resident in his 30s, a male Anchorage resident in his 80s, and four male Anchorage residents in their 70s – bringing the total number of resident deaths to 129.

Alaska has had 33,291 cumulative resident cases of COVID-19 and a total of 1,272 nonresidents.
