CBJ reports 11 new COVID-19 cases in Juneau for August 5

The City and Borough of Juneau Emergency Operations Center reports 11 new residents identified with COVID-19 in Juneau for August 5. Public Health attributes five cases to secondary transmission, one to community spread, and five are under investigation. The cluster associated with a local restaurant remains at seven cases – two active and five recovered.

Cumulatively, Juneau has had 1,613 residents test positive for COVID-19 and 206 nonresidents. There are 62 active cases in Juneau and 1,752 individuals have recovered. All individuals with active cases of COVID-19 are in isolation. There are currently two people with COVID-19 hospitalized at Bartlett Regional Hospital.

Statewide, the Alaska Department of Health and Social Services reports 382 new people identified with COVID-19 – 351 are residents and 31 are nonresidents. The state is also reporting five deaths – a female Fairbanks resident in her 80s, a female Matanuska-Susitna Borough resident in her 70s, a female Anchorage resident in her 70s, a female Palmer resident in her 70s, and a male Anchorage resident in his 80s. Alaska has had 73,931 cumulative resident cases of COVID-19 and a total of 3,322 nonresidents.
