Airport construction to impact traffic in front of terminal
Ongoing construction at the Juneau International Airport will impact traffic in front of the terminal starting today through next week. City and Borough of Juneau contractor Dawson Construction will be placing a large crane in the vehicle lane closest to the airport terminal today through November 19. Pedestrian access to the terminal will take up the second lane closest to the terminal. With the limited access to the front curb, here are options to safely keep traffic moving:
- Only drive up to the terminal when picking up arriving passengers once they have collected their luggage; or
- For both picking up and dropping off passengers, utilize the short-term parking lot to avoid use of the front curb altogether.
In addition to the traffic changes in front of the terminal, there will be periodic closures to the inside tunnel access between the new North Terminal (Alaska Seaplanes, Island Air) and the South Terminal (Alaska Airlines, car rentals, restrooms, and elevator). During these tunnel closures, pedestrians will need to use the marked detour route.
CBJ and the Juneau International Airport thank airport users for their assistance in maintaining safety throughout the construction project.
