61 new COVID-19 cases reported for Juneau

The Alaska Department of Health and Social Services (DHSS) reports 61 new individuals in the Juneau community – 58 residents and three nonresidents – identified with COVID-19 for September 15. For two nonresidents, DHSS lists the purpose as tourism; the third is under investigation. There are currently six people with COVID-19 hospitalized at Bartlett Regional Hospital.

The Juneau School District reports 10 individuals who’ve tested positive for COVID-19 and were infectious while in school:

  • One at Yaaḵoosgé Daakahídi High School (reported late Sept. 14; all classes operating on regular schedules)
  • One at Juneau-Douglas High School: Yadaa.at Kalé (all classes operating on regular schedules)
  • One at Auke Bay Elementary (part of one class quarantined)
  • One at Floyd Dryden Middle School (all classes operating on regular schedules)
  • Two at Thunder Mountain High School (all classes operating on regular schedules)
  • One at Dzantik’i Heeni Middle School (all classes operating on regular schedules)
  • Three at Sítʼ Eetí Shaanáx̱ – Glacier Valley (cases under investigation)

Statewide, the Alaska Department of Health and Social Services reports 1,095 new people identified with COVID-19 – 1,068 are residents and 27 are nonresidents. The state also reports two deaths – a male Anchorage resident in his 60s and a male Anchorage resident in his 70s – bringing the total number of resident deaths to 453. Alaska has had 94,105 cumulative resident cases of COVID-19 and a total of 4,314 nonresidents.
