32 new COVID-19 cases reported for Juneau

The Alaska Department of Health and Social Services reports 32 new individuals in the Juneau community – 31 residents and one nonresident – identified with COVID-19 for August 27. The nonresident is in the tourism sector. There are currently five people with COVID-19 hospitalized at Bartlett Regional Hospital.

The Juneau School District reports two individuals who’ve tested positive for COVID-19 and were infectious while in school – one at Thunder Mountain High School and one at Harborview Elementary School. These cases did not result in any classroom closures. The district also reports an individual with JSD who’s tested positive for COVID-19; the case has not resulted in any exposure at the schools. Statewide, the Alaska Department of Health and Social Services reports 536 new people identified with COVID-19 – 511 are residents and 25 are nonresidents. Alaska has had 82,880 cumulative resident cases of COVID-19 and a total of 3,873 nonresidents.
