27 new COVID-19 cases reported for Juneau

The Alaska Department of Health and Social Services reports 27 new individuals in the Juneau community – 26 residents and one nonresident – identified with COVID-19 for September 17. There are currently seven people with COVID-19 hospitalized at Bartlett Regional Hospital.

The Juneau School District reports four individuals who’ve tested positive for COVID-19 and were infectious while in school:

  • One at Dzantik’i Heeni Middle School (all classes operating on regular schedules)
  • One at Riverbend Elementary (all classes operating on regular schedules)
  • Two at Sitʼ Eeti Shaanáx̱ – Glacier Valley School (three classes quarantined)

Statewide, the Alaska Department of Health and Social Services reports 893 new people identified with COVID-19 –  875 are residents and 18 are nonresidents. The state also reports one death – a male Anchorage resident in his 60s – bringing the total number of resident deaths to 454. Alaska has had 96,002 cumulative resident cases of COVID-19 and a total of 4,358 nonresidents.
