Many Juneau voters are focused on the upcoming State of Alaska Special, Primary, and General Elections being held in 2022, however, the City and Borough of Juneau conducts its Regular Municipal Election on the first Tuesday of October of every year.
In advance of the October 4, 2022 Regular Municipal Election, the CBJ Clerk’s office is already underway preparing for our local election. Below are some of the recent actions and opportunities for public involvement in the CBJ Election process.
At the April 25, 2022 Regular Assembly Meeting, the Assembly passed a motion to hold the October 4, 2022 Regular Municipal Election as a By Mail Election in accordance with CBJ Code 29.07.360. Linked below are some of the documents related to this upcoming CBJ Election cycle:

- April 14, 2022 A Referendum Petition was filed with the Clerk’s office proposing to repeal CBJ 15.05.105 [Regarding Disclosure of Real Estate Values in Transactions]. Petition books will be issued on May 5, 2022 and more information will be posted on the Election webpage once those are issued to the petitioner’s committee.

The proposed election code changes were forwarded to from the Assembly Committee of the Whole to the Assembly for introduction at the May 16, 2022 Regular Assembly Meeting and it is anticipated they will be scheduled for public hearing at the June 13 Regular Assembly meeting.
