Notice of Public Hearing

The following items are scheduled for public hearing by the City and Borough of Juneau Alaska Assembly, on the date(s) designated below.  The agenda and packet material for the meetings will be posted on the CBJ website at https://juneau-ak.municodemeetings.com/ by close of business the business day prior to the meetings.

The public may participate in-person or via Zoom webinar. Testimony time will be limited by the Mayor based on the number of participants. Members of the public that want to provide oral testimony via remote participation must notify the Municipal Clerk prior to 4pm the day of the meeting by calling 907-586-5278 and indicating the topic(s) upon which they wish to testify. For in-person participation at the meeting, a sign-up sheet will be made available at the back of the Chambers and advance sign-up is not required. Members of the public are encouraged to send their comments in advance of the meeting to [email protected]

Ordinance 2023-23 An Ordinance Authorizing the Manager to Execute a Lease with GCI Communication Corporation for Approximately 15,500 Square Feet of City Property Located at 1580 Thane Road for a Satellite Communication Earth Station Site.

Ordinance 2022-06(b)(AQ) An Ordinance Transferring $7,026,038 from CIP B55-087 Emergency Department Addition to CIP B55-080 Crisis Stabilization, and Deappropriating $7,026,038 from the Manager for the Crisis Stabilization Capital Improvement Project.

Ordinance 2022-06 (b)(AS) An Ordinance Appropriating $11,944,152 to the Manager for the Bag Belt Replacement, Parking Lot Paving, and Gate K Culvert Reconstruction Capital Improvement Projects; Funding Provided by Airport CARES Act Funding.

Ordinance 2022-06(b)(AT) An Ordinance Appropriating $250,000 to the Manager for the Aurora Harbor Improvement Capital Improvement Project; Funding Provided by Harbors Funds.

Ordinance 2022-06(b)(AD) An Ordinance Appropriating $10,000,000 to the Manager for the Eaglecrest Gondola Capital Improvement Project; Funding Provided by an Investment from Goldbelt, Inc.

Apply for the Board of Equalization or a CBJ Enterprise Board

The Board of Equalization (quasi-judicial board) will begin hearing 2023 property assessment appeals in May through July.  There are currently four seats open for various unexpired terms.  Applicants are welcome to apply by Thursday, May 4 and the Assembly Human Resources Committee will review applications and make recommendations to the Assembly for appointment at its regular meeting on Monday, May 8.

The following Enterprise Boards and Advisory Board have seat openings due to upcoming vacancies and/or terms coming due. Persons interested in applying should fill out an online application and mark which boards they are interested in. See below for the full interview process.

Applications accepted through Wednesday, May 31 at 11:59 p.m. for the following seats:

  • Airport Board – two seats with terms running July 1, 2023 – June 30, 2026.
  • Docks & Harbors Board – three seats with terms running July 1, 2023 – June 30, 2026 & one seat for an unexpired term.
  • Eaglecrest Ski Area Board – two seats with terms running July 1, 2023 – June 30, 2026.
  • Systemic Racism Review Committee – four seats for various terms.

Upon receipt of an application the Clerk’s Office will email applicants advanced interview questions specific to each board. The Clerk’s Office will schedule all applicants who returned the advanced interview questions within the time allotted for a 10-minute interview with the full Assembly sitting as the Assembly Human Resources Committee. Interview dates/times are yet to be finalized for multiple evenings in mid to late June.

Interested in serving on another of the 30+ CBJ boards or committees? Submit an application now! Applications stay on file for one year and are considered as part of the appointment process as vacancies arise for the board or committee of interest.
