All Mendenhall River Community School playgrounds now open

Construction on the City and Borough of Juneau’s Mendenhall River Community School Playground & Site Upgrades Project is complete for the season, and all the playgrounds are now open.

New play equipment in the Pre-K and K-1 play areas, and new ground surfacing in the K-1 play areas have been installed, as well as a new drainage system in the area between the main playground and the back fence. Due to weather, the Pre-K play area to the left of the school entrance has a temporary play surface installed. Poured-in-place surfacing will go in next summer. Some of the play equipment was donated by the Central Council of the Tlingit and Haida Indian Tribes of Alaska.
