People of CBJ: Margaret (Peggy) Barnhill
“My favorite thing about working with preschoolers is the chance to form relationships with them, so they can feel safe to share their joys or their tears with me. Those relationships are the main thing that made distance learning possible for these little ones, who were always happy to see me on their screens.”
Margaret (Peggy) Barnhill has worked for the Juneau School District for the last 9 school years. As a preschool paraeducator, she works with kids with and without developmental delays. Currently, she does weekly one-on-one virtual home visits with her students. She helped coordinate a mask making initiative by Riverbend Elementary staff who sewed over 300 masks, individually packaged with little notes, to give out to kids and families.
