Family Voting

The last day to register to vote for the October 1, 2019 Regular Municipal Election is Sunday, September 1, 2019.
Voters should register, if possible, prior to that date. If a voter has changed a name, or a residence or a mailing address, an updated voter registration application should be completed. Voters may register to vote at any of the following locations:

• State Division of Elections’ Office, 240 Main St., Suite 400
• State Division of Elections – Region I Office, Mendenhall Mall, 9109 Mendenhall Mall Road, Suite 3
• Municipal Clerk’s Office at City Hall 155 S. Seward St., Room 202
• Zach Gordon Youth Center
• Any CBJ Library

ABSENTEE VOTING: Will you be out of town on Election Day? A qualified voter may vote an absentee ballot for any reason. Full details on the dates/times/locations for Early and Absentee Voting are as follows:

By Mail:

Applications for By-Mail Ballots can be obtained in the Municipal Clerk’s Office or online at www.juneau.org/clerk/elections Applications for by-mail ballots must be received in the Municipal Clerk’s office no later than Tuesday, September 24, 2019. After Sept. 24, please refer to Absentee Voting BY FAX information.

In-Person Early & Absentee Voting:

Beginning September 16, 2019, a qualified voter may cast a ballot in person at the following locations/dates/times:

City Hall – Conference Room 224 Foyer
Mondays – Fridays:
September 16 – 30, 2019
8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

Mendenhall Mall Annex

Mondays – Fridays:
September 16 – 30, 2019
11:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
and
Saturdays, September 21 & 28: Noon – 4:00 p.m.

By Fax / Email (Electronic Transmission):

Fax (electronic transmission) voting is a method to allow voters to cast a ballot when a by-mail ballot is not a possibility. A qualified voter must submit a signed, written request for a fax ballot to the election official’s office no later than 5:00 p.m. the day before Election Day. The voter must sign a certificate with the following statement: “I understand that by using fax transmission to return my marked ballot, I am voluntarily waiving a portion of my right to a secret ballot to the extent necessary to process my ballot, but expect that my vote will be held as confidential as possible.”

For the October 1, 2019 Regular Election, the signed application for a fax ballot must be received in the City Clerk’s Office no later than 5:00 p.m. on Monday, September 30. When a completed application for a faxed ballot is received, a ballot will be faxed or e-mailed, along with instructions for marking and submitting the voted, witnessed ballot by fax or mail.

Personal Representative Voting:

A qualified voter who is unable to go to the polling place on election day due to age, illness or disability, may appoint a personal representative to obtain a ballot for the voter on or after September 16, 2019, up to and including election day. Persons who are ill or unable to go to the polls, who still wish to vote and have not chosen one of the methods above, may contact the Clerk’s Office to make arrangements for an absentee ballot by personal representative.
