Proposed Activities: We would like to discuss the possibility of filming sequences involving the following animals and behaviors—subject to change, of course, depending on what we might witness in the field: Hummingbirds, Black Bears, Wolves, and Mountain Goats.

Lastly, we’d also potentially be interested in filming the efforts of scientists, researchers, and others who are working to better manage wild spaces for the benefit of Alaska’s wildlife.

Exclusive Use? Yes
Explanation of Exclusive Use: Alaska is one of the last of its kind: a world untamed. It’s a refuge for wild things and wild places whose dimensions are so extreme — the world’s largest salmon run, North America’s highest summit, almost half of its shorebirds, nearly a million caribou, thirty-two species of carnivores — they boggle the mind.

For eons, this wild world has been shaped, synchronized, and buffeted by dynamic forces. And now, an original, blue-chip UHD natural history series produced by Grizzly Creek Films for the Smithsonian Channel, EPIC ALASKA, will capture its majesty like never before.

Filmed over two years, through the fierce depths of winter, glorious summer, fleeting fall, and the uproar of spring, Epic Alaska — a follow-up series to the acclaimed, Emmy-winning EPIC YELLOWSTONE — will document the most amazing, the most fascinating, and the most beautiful wild places and creatures that can be found in Alaska, and nowhere else on the planet.

Here, in one of Earth’s last strongholds, the show will reveal — for the first time, in unprecedented 12K and 8K footage — how the indomitable forces of nature still reign. Now, like never before, the world will have an incredible front row seat to Alaska’s natural wonders.

Other Comments for CBJ Staff to Consider: We would like to film off and on from April 2021 through December 2021. Exact dates are TBD. We are a small and respectful teaming planning in advance to ensure filming is done in the correct way. Please see included letter which outlines the show, company, equipment, date ranges as it relates to animals, etc.
