Juneau has a new nonresident COVID-19 case

The Alaska Department of Health and Social Services reports today one new nonresident case of COVID-19 in Juneau. The state reported another nonresident case for Juneau on July 4, bringing the total to six nonresidents. According to Division of Public Health, both individuals are visitors to Juneau. The nonresident case today is part of 30 new cases statewide – 28 Alaska residents and 2 nonresidents.

Of Juneau’s six nonresident cases, one is active and the rest are recovered. Of Juneau’s 45 resident cases, one is active, 42 have recovered, and 2 are deceased. How Juneau’s four most recent resident COVID-19 cases acquired the virus is still under investigation.

Alaska has had 1,166 cumulative resident cases – 598 are active – and a total of 237 nonresident cases of COVID-19.
