Eaglecrest Christmas Eve festivities: Story time, torchlight parade & Santa

Eaglecrest Ski Area is holding Christmas Eve festivities on Tuesday, December 24, at 3 p.m. – 6 p.m.

There will be arts, crafts, and story time in the Fish Creek Lodge starting at 3 p.m. There’ll also be live music, carols, milk, cookies, and cider. Beer & wine will be available in the Tower Bar.

The Porcupine Torchlight Parade begins at 4 p.m. (subject to change based on snow conditions), with Santa’s sleigh expected to arrive at 4:30 p.m.

New Eaglecrest Summer Operations Task Force scheduled to meet Dec. 12

The initial meeting of the Eaglecrest Summer Operations Task Force is scheduled for Thursday, December 12, 2019 at 12:00 p.m. (Noon) in the City Hall Conference Room #224.

The six-member task force created by Mayor Beth Weldon consists of the following three Assemblymembers and three Eaglecrest Board members: Deputy Mayor Maria Gladziszewski (Task Force Chair), Assemblymember Carole Triem, Assemblymember Wade Bryson, and Eaglecrest Boardmembers Bruce Garrison, Jonathan Dale, and Mike Satre.  A copy of the document from the Mayor creating and organizing the task force is posted online here.

Opening Day at Eaglecrest is Saturday, Dec. 7

Opening Day at Eaglecrest Ski Area is this Saturday, December 7. The Porcupine Chairlift and Muskeg trail will be open  from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The forecast is calling for an additional 4-8 inches of new snow through Thursday. Temperatures will then get cold enough to resume snowmaking. Snow depth and conditions will be evaluated throughout the week to determine if Eaglecrest can safely open more terrain. Snowmaking equipment will be on the mountain. Please avoid riding over cords and hoses.

If you still need your season pass printed, please visit the Eaglecrest Ticket Office during regular business hours, now Thursday to Monday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Eaglecrest will also be open this Sunday, December 8. Operations resume Friday to Sunday, December 13 to December 15. Eaglecrest will then be open daily from Thursday, December 19 through Monday, January 6, except closed Christmas Day.

For Opening Weekend, the Snowsports School will be accepting lesson reservations. Please call at least 24 hours in advance: (907) 790-2000 x211. Parents: Remember to sign up your students for Youth Programs and Holiday Camps. These reservation may be made online.

The Rental Shop, Eaglecrest Grill, and Old Tower Bar will be open. If you need new ski repairs or a new Eaglecrest hoodies, stop by the Ski Shop!

The Snow Bus will not be running this weekend.

Change of Location for Meetings on Thursday, November 7

On Thursday, November 7, 2019, Blueprint Downtown and the Eaglecrest Board will be trading spaces for their meetings, to accommodate equipment needs.  The meetings will now be held in the following locations:

At 5:30 p.m., the Eaglecrest Board will meet in Assembly Chambers in City Hall.

At 6:00 p.m., the Blueprint Downtown Steering Committee will meet in City Hall’s Conference Room 224.
