Information Technology Director

Partially Exempt 40 hours per week $104,374.40 - $140,004.80 Annually (DOE)

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
This position interacts with a variety of different clients within the organization and must demonstrate strong facilitation, problem solving, and collaboration skills. The successful applicant will blend and adapt their approaches to suit a variety of clients, deliver complex technical information in an effective manner, and resolve conflicts between staff and IT clients. The successful applicant will have a vision of the future of IT services that aligns with modern trends and an ability to effectuate that vision through leadership of staff, contractual relationships with vendors, the prioritization of resources, and the ability to generate buy-in with key decision makers. WHAT IS IT LIKE TO WORK IN OUR DEPARTMENT
Information Technology (IT) is a respected service and support department of the City and Borough of Juneau (CBJ) and is dedicated to serving and maintaining the technology needs throughout the CBJ. IT strives to provide all of CBJ with an excellent technical environment in which to function. Our duties and responsibilities are extremely important for the day-to-day operation of CBJ as a whole. IT staff are friendly, courteous, and capable people, with an interest in efficiency. IT consists of solution seekers who are supportive of each other and to the greater CBJ.

WORKING HOURS AND LOCATION
This position typically works (Monday through Friday) 8:00am – 5:00pm and may need to be available evenings and weekends and holidays to address critical IT issues as they arise. Your office would be located in downtown Juneau in City Hall.

Job Responsibilities

DESCRIPTION OF WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

This position serves at the pleasure of the City Manager and directs the Information Technology Division. Primary duties consist of supervising professional and technical staff, managing the organization’s central information technology systems, managing projects, and developing long-range plans for the IT infrastructure needs of the CBJ (excluding, but collaborating with, Library and Police).

Minimum Qualifications

DO I HAVE THE QUALIFICATIONS FOR THIS JOB – OUR DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education:        A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution with major course-work in computer science, information systems, business administration or a closely related field; AND

Experience:       Five (5) years of professional experience in either Systems administration; OR Systems analysis and computer programming. At least two (2) years of the experience must have included supervisory experience over computer professionals or project leaders.

SUBSTITUTION: Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for the desired education on a year for year basis.

Other:                   Ability to acquire a CJIS level 4 clearance that includes a complete FBI fingerprint background check.
