COVID-19 Emergency Worker I/II

Capital City Fire & Rescue is recruiting for temporary workers to assist with Hagevig Testing Center operations during the COVID pandemic. Safety of our workers is important! All workers must wear supplied masks, gloves, and other appropriate personal protective equipment while working.
When you will be working:
We are looking for individuals who can work 5 hours shifts or 10 hour shifts from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. between one and four days per week. Shifts are available on weekdays or weekends. These are limited part-time positions at this time.
Where you will be working:
Workers will be located at the Hagevig Testing Center located at 2601 Sherwood Lane. Parking is provided. Workers may assist with Pop Up Testing events in other locations as needed.
As the public health situation changes those hired into these positions may also be assigned other related duties as necessary or moved to other locations. All new hires will be provided with training, and trained in the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
*These positions are temporary, non-benefitted, hourly positions.
Job Responsibilities
What you will be doing:
- Greeting members of the public with booked appointments and walk-ins;
- Completing online screening forms for data entry;
- Providing general information about COVID-19;
- Administering COVID testing for members of the public;
- May transport tests to Bartlett Regional Hospital Laboratory daily;
- May run errands in support of the emergency operation.
Minimum Qualifications
Emergency Worker I
Range 10
Education: High School Degree or equivalent.
Not less than 18 years of age at time of appointment.
Experience: As determined by the Operations Section Chief or their designee, any combination of education and experience that would provide the knowledge, skills and abilities as well as possession of any required licenses or certifications to perform the duties needed in response to an evolving public health emergency. Documentation is required to support such qualifications. (Applicants should provide information in their application articulating how their experience qualifies them for the duties listed in the job posting).
Emergency Worker II
Range 12
In addition to the requirements above an Emergency Worker II must also have the following:
Experience: Any combination of experience or post-secondary education totaling one (1) year that included: Paid or unpaid experience (including volunteers/interns) performing work directly related to the assigned scope of work.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
Applicants possessing an EMT certification will be hired at the Emergency Worker II level.

SPECIAL NOTE:
In addition, applicants may be required to interact with COVID-19 positive citizens with appropriate personal proactive equipment (PPE). Applicants should take this into consideration when applying for these positions.
This is an hourly temporary emergency position created to for the sole purpose of responding to the COVID-19 Public Health emergency. In accordance with City & Borough of Juneau Personnel Rule 5 PR 010. “Emergency Appointment” of these type of positions do not qualify for health or life insurance, leave or holiday pay. An emergency appointment may not exceed the duration of the emergency.
