Job Responsibilities

DESCRIPTION OF WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

As an essential member of the Water Division with the Utility Business Unit, you are part of a team made up of hard-working public employees dedicated to providing the citizens of Juneau with quality and reliable water service. Your main focus will be providing excellent customer service, and at times that may mean relaying bad news and enforcing regulations. You will be working year-round in the field and the office.

Your lead will be scheduling your daily tasks which can include: reading maps and measuring to locate water valves; performing meter reads: repairing, replacing, and troubleshooting meters, and mathematically evaluating customer accounts and meter data. Each task will be completed by recording the information on maps, spreadsheets, or in our database. Some days you will find yourself counting inventory, helping with the maintenance of our water system, performing landscaping, painting, or even snow plowing. Throughout it all, you will be practicing safe work habits and always adhering to OSHA standards whether you are in a crawl space downtown, a meter vault in Auke Bay, on a ladder in Douglas, or working at your desk. But each time you put on your uniform, your work will be consistently accurate which will allow others in CBJ to perform their jobs effectively and provide our customers with the service they deserve.
