COVID-19 Screening Hotline Worker $22.92 per hour

Temporary, non-benefitted hourly positions

The City & Borough of Juneau is recruiting for multiple temporary positions to staff the COVID-19 Screening Hotline. The hotline screens callers for COVID-19 testing and vaccination and provides general information to the public. Training will be provided to all call center staff. Job Responsibilities

What you will be doing:

  • Answering phone calls from the public and screening for COVID-19 testing
  • Performing data entry of screening and testing information
  • Answering general questions related to COVID-19
  • Providing general information about COVID testing sites
  • Scheduling appointments for in-home testing

 

We are looking for individuals who have/are:

  • Ability to learn and understand local testing information and be able to clearly explain information to callers
  • Ability to learn and understand health mandates and clearly provide information to callers
  • Extremely detail oriented – capturing screening information from callers requires a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Strong listening and comprehension skills to gather data from callers during the screening process
  • Ability to communicate complex information in an understandable way to a variety of people from different backgrounds
  • Ability to maintain composure while responding to a variety of questions and callers
  • Ability to provide a high level of customer service to all callers
  • Strong critical thinking skills
  • Dependable and reliable regarding attendance
  • Healthcare backgrounds are desired

 

When you will be working:

The call center will be open 7 days a week. Full time shifts are preferred and available. Limited part time shifts may be available.

 

Where you will be working:

Workers will be working remotely – hardware can be provided if necessary, though a quiet work space and internet connection are required for this position. Training will take place on-site at a CBJ location, applicant must be available and in Juneau for up to two consecutive weeks for training sessions. Parking will be provided.

*Hotline Worker positions are temporary, non-benefitted, hourly positions.

Minimum Qualifications

Education:      High School Degree or equivalent.

Experience: Any combination of experience or post-secondary education totaling one (1)

year that included: Paid or unpaid experience (including volunteers/interns) in a human service, health, public safety, or related field.

*The Operations Section Chief or their designee will determine whether an applicant's post-secondary education is considered applicable to the requirements of the position. Applicants using post-secondary education may qualify on the basis of 3 semester or 4 quarter school credits equating to one (1) month of experience.
