Police/Fire Public Safety Call Taker

Full Time 40 hours per week $23.57 Hourly

Information

IS THIS THE JOB FOR YOU?

If you have customer service skills, the ability to remain calm and courteous when helping others in stressful situations, have problem solving skills, and can type accurately - we can teach you the rest!

Juneau Police Department call takers fill an important role in the Communications Center by answering calls for non-emergency services, providing information, managing court paperwork, and performing data entry. This is an interesting job on its own or a great introduction to a career in public safety.

Call takers determine the nature and priority of calls, operate a multi-line telephone, use multiple computer systems for data entry, and route calls to the right people for assistance. We have a training plan designed to teach you what you need to know – all learned while working under the guidance of our experienced dispatch team.

Job Responsibilities

Working in the Communications Center at the Juneau Police Department is rewarding and challenging. As a member of the team, you will find yourself surrounded by service-oriented people who dedicate themselves to helping others in need. This position will work less holidays and shift work than a dispatcher but more than a typical office job. The typical shift is during the day or evening without overnight shifts.
